6 Tips To Keep Your Crew Together (Read: How to Herd Cats)

The experience of planning a bachelorette party is often like herding cats. You are constantly touching base with the guests and asking seemingly simple, though apparently complicated questions.

Questions like:

  • Are you coming? Please RSVP.

  • Are you coming to all the "sections" or just some?

  • Are you drinking?

  • Seriously though, Can you RSVP?

  • Are you a self designated driver? (Praise these people. Treat them like gods)

  • Are you happy with a pre-set menu?

  • Who has dietary requirements?

  • Dammit, can you just freekin' RSVP!?!!?

On the big night this inevitably kicks up a notch or 12. You start feeling like you're spending more of your bestie's party organising people, and making sure your group sticks together than actually sitting back and enjoying your bestie's bash.

You dont need any additional stress, so here are my suggestions on how to keep this group of over excited lady loves together on the night of the party.

1. Reduce the number of location changes

Changing location too many times can make your guests feel like they dont have enough time to really settle in and enjoy themselves & is an extra stress for you as an organiser. Keep it simple.

2. Keep all activities within short walking distance of each other.

Reducing the need for transport will save guests money and prevent confusion.... Besides skipping in heels from location to location with a couple of drinks in your system is always fun!

3. Pre-plan transportation.

If your activities aren't in walking distance of each other, have your group travel together. Arrange for Ubers, Taxis, Limos, Bus, Helicopters, Hot Air Balloons, Planes, Rockets etc to transport your whole group together. Check out our Travelling Fun page for transport options in Canberra.

4. Let every guest know the "run sheet" before the night.

If guests know the plan before the night they will be mentally prepared for what is to come. You'll find they start getting themselves ready for the next section without you having to say anything,

5. Let everyone know about a venue change 15 mins before you are going to leave.

This gives guests time for bathroom breaks, re-applying make-up, finishing their drink... and lets be honest skulling one more for good measure.

6. Have each member of the group wear something that visually connects them.

A big part of keeping your group together is being able to identify who is in your group, if everyone is wearing a certain colour, hat, necklace, flower crown, sailor hat, whatever, it makes it easier to find the missing members of your group with a quick glance around a crowded room.

So really, don't be shy, keep things simple, plan ahead, and communicate clearly. The rest will happen by itself.
