Don't Plan an Expensive Bachelorette Party
I say it all the time, bachelorette parties and weddings are expensive! “But she’s only getting married once!” I hear you say. Yes that’s true, she is (hopefully) only getting married once.
The problem for the guests is:
They have costs of the bachelorette, and the wedding to account for ($$$$);
She, and 10 other friends are all getting married in the same year ($$$$);
Those that aren’t having weddings seem to be having babies ($$$$); or
They’re having a milestone birthday this year ($$$$).
All these things only happen once, but they also all happen at the same time.
They also just happen to coincide with bills for:
The house you just bought ($$$$); or
The overseas holiday you booked($$$$); or
The car which apparently always needs money poured into it (I just bought tyres 3 years ago! You’re telling me I need new ones!?), and
Your need to buy excessive amounts of chocolate to eat away your finance related sorrows.
Party In Canberra conducted a survey in 2014 and found 91% of people surveyed thought that a bachelorette party should cost each guest less than $200 and many of these people thought it should cost far less. 51% of people surveyed had felt obligated to spend more money than they were comfortable with for a bachelorette party. That’s huge! You are trying to create a feeling of happiness and love around the bride, not financial stress and anxiety!
She is your bestie and you want to give her the best send off into marriage that you can and that’s what makes you an amazing friend! If you want to spoil her with pampering and memorable adventures, maybe keep the expensive stuff down to just you and the bride, just the bridal party, or just very close friends if their finances can handle it.
