Planning a Bachelorette Party? You've Gotta Be Organised!
You only get one chance to make a first impression. The first contact you make with party guests sets the mood for the whole event. If your first contact (and second, third, fourth, and fifth) with your guests is confusing you could find yourself unintentionally killing the vibe of your event.
Organising a bachelorette party is exciting at first. You're full of ideas and have heaps of time. Before you know it, the party is just around the corner, you and the bridesmaids can't agree on anything, invitations haven't gone out yet, suppliers aren't responding to you quickly enough, the bride needs a tonne of help planning the wedding, and you just flat out don't have time.
Plan Ahead
Make sure you start the planning process super early to reduce your future stress. If you are finding that your bride tribe can't agree on details, or just generally aren't good at party planning, you can always Book An Appointment with a Party In Canberra party planner. They'll inspire you, mediate disagreements, and help you finalise your party plans.
Don't Over Consult With Guests
Many party organisers like to make initial contact with their guests to make sure party guests will like the style of event that they're putting together. This is a lovely and well intentioned gesture, but the truth is, most people have so much going on in their lives that they really don't want to have any input. I can't tell you how many times I've heard guests say that they just want the organisers to tell them what's happening... actually what they say is usually more along the lines of "urrggh. Shut up and take my money".
Make decisions amongst the bridal party. You only need to please the bride with your choices, and since she's your bestie, and you've already done Party In Canberra's Pre-Party Planning Interview with her, you know exactly what she wants.
Asking everyone's opinion on every detail slows down the process, but also means that guests can be disappointed if the final decision went against their suggestion. Assuming the event cost is around the $100 mark, most people are pretty happy to go with the flow. Feel confident in your decisions and lock that shit down!
Invitations
There are so many options for invitations these days, and some of Canberra's best invitation suppliers are list on Party In Canberra's Decoration Suppliers page! You could choose to use handmade, designed & printed, Facebook events, or fancy email invitations which track guest RSVP's and sync with guests phone calendars. However you decide to let your guests know they are invited, make sure that there are no questions about the details of the party day.
The most important things:
Give your guests a minimum of 1 month notice for the party.
Make sure the details on dates, start times, costs, addresses, themes, dress codes, RSVP dates, and anything they need to bring are clear and on the invitation.
Not providing this info upfront, and with enough notice will cause frustration for your guests. They need a single source of truth, a go to resource to find all information they need for the big event. You don't want your guests to show up flustered and stressed because they couldn't figure out what was going on. Being cranky on arrival is hard to come back from.
Make a Run Sheet, and STICK TO IT!
Having a Run sheet is a great way to make sure that everyone knows what is happening & when, but a run sheet is pointless if nobody sticks to it. How many times have you arrived at an event to find that nobody is there. You assume you're lost, call around to try and figure out where everyone really is, only to hear "sorry babes, we'll be there soon"... then they show up 40 minutes late. It's a crappy feeling and not an experience you want for your guests. Be on time.
Put Yourself In Your Guest's Shoes
If you aren't sure of yourself, think about how you'd feel if you were one of the guests invited to the party. It will give you the confidence and the clarity you need to push on and make the right decision.
