My Best Friend's Bachelorette - Part 4

The Splash Party - Taking the Plunge into Wedded Bliss.

We had originally planned a pool party for our sweet summer child, but decided that since we wanted to head out dancing that a pool party (and the need to get showered and dressed again) was going to over complicate our night. Instead, we opted for a tropical themed party in the perfect venue, The Glass House Cafe.

Party Styling

I'm a huge advocate for cohesive styling, and the most effective way to achieve it is through picking a strong theme, and a simple colour palate. The bridesmaids and I made sure that all our styling choices linked to our tropical theme and our teal, yellow and white colour palate.

The venue we chose was specifically to enhance our theme. The space gives you the feeling of being outdoors, while being protected from the elements. There are a number of trees and tropical plants growing within the space which worked perfectly with our styling,

When decorating, we made use of things we already owned wherever possible so we could minimise the cost of the party to our guests. We borrowed inflatable pool toys from my dad's house, and recycled fake lawn which my neighbours were going to throw out. The roof of the glass house is also pre-decorated with fairy lights, so when the sun sets the space looks magical.

In the end, we only spent a very small amount of money on decorations, choosing instead to focus our budget on food, drinks, and entertainment.

Memory Book

Our bride to be is a very sentimental person. She loves to lavish her tribe with kind words and heartfelt keepsakes she's created. Each guest sent us a photograph (or photographs) of them with the bride along with favourite memories and kind words about our bride. All of this was collated into a stunning book by one of the bridesmaids who is an incredible craft addict.

During the Splash party we had each guest take a Polaroid photo with the bride to be added to the book.

Media Board and Photo Booth

Have you worked out that we love photos yet? All celebrities need a media board to stand in front of while the media capture the perfect shots, and our bride to be is nothing less than a star to us. The media board featured the teal pineapple (which had become the symbol of our event) and the hash tag we were using to link our photographs together on instagram. To kick in up a notch we added the Tiffany & Co styled photo frame.

The Signature Cocktail 🍹

We arranged for each guest to receive a signature cocktail when arriving after the scavenger hunt (well earned after all that hard work!). The cocktail was selected to match our theme. It was teal in colour, pineapple in flavour, and was quite frankly, delicious.

1 shot Malibu,

1 shot Blue Curacao

90 mls Pineapple Juice

with Ice.

Perfect.

Make-Up Touch-Up Booth

It had been a long day and we wanted to ensure that our bride tribe was still feeling glamorous. We hired a make-up artist to join us for a few hours and make sure our tribe's make-up was still party perfect. You can't go wrong with a bit of pampering!

Games

We aimed to keep the games to a minimum to ensure that the party guests could focus on socialising instead of feeling pressured to participate in games that they weren't interested in. To that end we only had 2 games

1. "How well do you know your groom?" - a nice and simple one. The groom is asked questions before the hens night, and the bride has to guess his answers. It's regularly played at hen's nights, but always provides a unique insight into the bride and grooms relationship and love for each other.

2. The balloon hump race. "What the...?" I hear you say, but I can assure you this is the single most hilarious game that I have even seen played at a hens party. There are 2 people per team. one person stands in front of the other. The person in the front uses a safety pin to attach an inflated balloon to their bottom and places their hands on the back of a chair (for support). The person in the back firmly humps and thrusts their pelvis into their team mate, trying to pop the balloon. The end result is watching your friends hilariously, aggressively, and sexually thrusting into each other while laughing so hard their stomachs cramp up. This game is not for introverts, but I have not found a better game.

The Cheeky Entertainment

What is a hen's night without a bit of eye candy! Handsome man, polite, professional, and never overstepped the line... I could write more about him, but I think I am hypnotised by his abs.

The party was wrapping up, the night was young, and at it was time to hit the town.
